Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

This summer, my husband and I grew our own tomatoes, squash, jalapenos and bell peppers. If we could, we would probably buy some chickens and raise them for eggs. Luckily though, my husband works with a guy who has a lot of land and on it are some chickens and he gets so many eggs, that he passes some of them on to us for free. There is nothing better than farm fresh eggs as opposed to what you can buy in the stores.

Recently, the city I grew up in decided that residents can raise chickens in their backyards, inside the city limits. While I think this is great, many residents are opposed and think it is ridiculous to have chickens in backyards.

So what do you think about raising chickens in your backyard within the city limits? Is it something you would do, do you think it’s crazy or do you already raise your own chickens.

  1. Hey, I've seen really cute chicken coops that would be perfect for a back yard. Although, they are messy birds and If you can get your farm fresh eggs for free, why go through the hassle.
